CANstruction Santa Fe 2017 Winners

Studio Southwest Architects helps CANstruction Santa Fe exceed their 2017 food drive goals.

Santa Fe, NM – June 26, 2017 – With the help of Studio Southwest Architects, AIA Santa Fe’s third annual CANstruction Santa Fe competition exceeded their 2017 goals; raising 30k pounds of food for Northern New Mexico’s food bank, The Food Depot.

This annual competition showcases local architectural teams who build large scale sculptures out of thousands of non-perishable food items. Last Thursday, June 22, 2017 Studio Southwest Architects was presented with 4 awards at the CANstruction Santa Fe Awards Party: Most Cans, Most Original Design, Best Use of Labels, and Best Meal. Their “cansculpture” titled, Education CAN Save the World, was a conceptual approach to this year’s “Heroes” theme and featured an 8ft globe surrounded by text books. With the help of sponsors: Tandis, HB Construction, Sto, ARI Graphix, Daltile, Halcom, and Forbo Flooring the Studio Southwest Architects team was able to breeze through build day at the Santa Fe Place Mall.

This is the second year that Studio Southwest Architects has participated in the CANstruction event. Last year’s 2016 sculpture titled, BreakCAN Bad, was a runner-up in the International CANstruction “Best Use of Labels” competition.
