The
Advanced Laser Facility (ALF) at Albuquerque’s Kirtland AFB
houses research and development laboratories for airborne and ground-based
chemical and electrical lasers, in addition to training, administrative,
and communications areas.
The 2 story building has unobstructed views of the Sandia Mountains
to the east and is finished in split faced concrete block and high
performance blue-tinted glazing. A vaulted metal roof punctuates the
entry. Laboratories are comprised of electrical labs with class 10,000
clan room design, and wet chemical labs supported by two large vacuum
systems. The labs have access to wet chemical and gas piping systems
supplied from an overhead interstitial service corridor. |
