| Amtech Systems is a corporate research/development
lab, and manufacturing headquarters for radio frequency toll
collection, tracking, and identification devices. Half of the
structure is devoted to R&D testing, prototyping, and manufacturing,
while the remainder is comprised of corporate offices, engineering,
marketing, and training areas. Structural design for vibration
control isolates testing labs and manufacturing functions from
each other. The engineering department is separated from the
electronics lab and common areas by a continuous circular skylight
vault that contains a drafting mezzanine daylighted through
a diffusing linear skylight. The building’s façade
is comprised of CMU walls, cast concrete columns, and metal
clad fascias, highlighted by blue-tinted glazing. |
