The Manuel Lujan, Jr. Indian Affairs Building & National
Indian Program Training Center is a 150,000 s.f. facility that
was planned as a second phase of the BIA Southwest Regional Headquarters
Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The project is located on
the former All Indian Pueblo School site owned by the All Indian
Pueblo Council (AIPC) and developed by the Indian Pueblo Federal
Development Corporation (IPFDC) for the economic development
of the 19 Pueblos of the southwest region. This facility is the
second building in the master planned site of 41 acres. The project
is a pedestrian-oriented government campus, with strong site
and building security and functional efficiency. The Phase II
building is oriented to create a major entry plaza and a shaded
pedestrian connection to its Phase I sister facility, the Pete
Dominici Indian Affairs Building. Both facilities were sited
to enjoy the panoramic view of Albuquerque, the Sandia Mountains
to the east, the petroglyph cliffs of the West Mesa and the Central
Business District skyline to the south.
The Master Plan of the 41 acre site will include over 15 acres
of urban commercial, hotel and restaurant development to support
the office development. |
