The BIA Headquarters Building I is the first in a series of projects to be completed for the Indian Pueblo Federal Development Corporation in central Albuquerque. The project calls for 5-6 office buildings, a hotel and meeting center, along with retail and restaurant projects. Building I is a contemporary 3-story structure housing law enforcement facilities, office and training facilities, along with conference areas. The project features state of the art networking, AV presentation system design, and GSA anti-terrorism/force protection design. The project has numerous LEED driven sustainable design features such as sunshades, energy efficient HVAC, rainwater recovery, and healthy/recycled content interior materials. The grand atrium is oriented to showcase magnificent views of the Sandia Mountains to the northeast.
