The 33,000 sf facility in White Rock, New Mexico houses the Los Alamos County Fire Station Number 3. The new Fire station contains accommodations for 16 firefighters and 4 officers, including sleeping quarters, private bathrooms, kitchen/dining and day room spaces. Additional spaces for firefighter use include a workout room, conference/training room, library and study room. Storage spaces have been provided throughout the plan to protect sensitive materials, equipment and personal belongings. The site is approximately 4. 5 acres situated in front of a step hillside. The facility is organized into a single story scheme to protect the public view of the hillside and to create an acceptable palette for future growth and expansion on sites surrounding the facility. The exterior of the facility is comprised of durable materials for low maintenance and longevity and to provide an expression of civic architecture for the community.
