New Mexico Consortium Laboratory

Los Alamos, NM

GALLERY

The New Mexico Consortium Laboratory is a 27,000 sf facility located in the Entrada Business Park near the east entrance of Los Alamos. The project includes three elements: a 4000 sf Greenhouse, a 21,000 sf Office/Laboratory Main Building, and a 2000 sf Headhouse connecting the other two components. The project will be used for alternative food and energy research.

Studio SW was selected to design the project after an initial programming and conceptualization phase. Studio SW worked with the owner to review, confirm and clarify all program components. The main building is designed on a standard laboratory module for maximum flexibility. While not designed to LEED requirements, the project incorporates daylight harvesting and meets the requirements of the 2009 New Mexico Building Code and the 2009 International Energy Conservation Code.
