UNM Valencia Workforce Training Center

Los Lunas, New Mexico

GALLERY

Nestled at the foot of the Los Lunas Volcano, the new 18,000 sf UNM-Valencia (UNM-V) Workforce Training Center (WTC) embraces the uniqueness of the area and provides the means to achieve UNM-V’s mission and goals.

Emulating the geological emergence of the volcanoes, the jutting angles of the new WTC rise from the earth to create an elevation that pays homage to the University’s sense of place. Classrooms, collaboration spaces, and an administrative core that offers “views” of the building’s interior landscape, the new WTC will produce students with the crucial skills to emerge as workers and solidify into the local economy – like the cooling of lava from a volcano into the surrounding area.

Built by Jaynes Corporation, this beautiful 18,000 sf facility incorporates sustainable design features to enhance occupant wellbeing, water conservation, and enhance energy efficiency. This project is expected to reach LEED Gold certification.
